Today was a rough day for me being apart from Noah. It aches to not have him whenever I want, and to know that so many people can take their babies home. I just stare at the many pictures that we have already taken of him, and smile.
Tonight we were able to spend a good amount of time with him, and the little firecracker of a nurse that had him today got me to 'kangaroo hold' him. I have been nervous because of his size. But, since Nick has been able to handle his size with such ease, I knew I needed to just get over it, and hold my baby close. The nurse grabbed him and shoved him down my tank and Noah just grabbed ahold of me and laid there all cozy and snuggly. It seriously was my favorite night with him so far. Even though he made my heart jump letting his heart rate monitor go off (he likes to hold his breath too long), it seriously made my really rough day so much better.
As of tonight, Noah is packing on the pounds....haha, he weighed 2.9 pounds! Whoo hoo!!! He even has a little girlfriend, Anna next to him, who is also one feisty little kid. They both like to pull out their iv's and anything else that bothers them.
He was moved out of the intensive watch room, and into the next level which is for the less 'in need'. Most of his chords and monitors have been taken down, and is on his last day of phototherapy. He now is watched over for his breathing and sleep apnea; like I said, he likes to hold his breath, and 'forget' to breath sometimes (like he hasn't caused me enough worry, he will sound off his heart alarm to make sure everyone is on their toes), as soon as the nurse comes over to check him, he is already bringing his heart up, and breathing fine. All of the nurses say that he likes to make them work for their money by having them run over to check his stats.
We'll see what stories he has for us tonight when we go back to visit; it seems to be that each day the nurses have something new to say about our little man. He has his own agenda still, that's for sure. If he doesn't like how he is laying, he'll let you know. He isn't one to just lay there and take it, he will squiggle around and kick off anything that bothers him, just to make it known that he is still the boss.
:)
Everyday gets better and better...climb the hurdles and he will be home.
